It’s the end of the world as we know it, and you don’t wanna miss a thing at Apocalust. If the Mayans were right and the apocalypse is upon us, we figured that we may as well welcome it with tassels, glitter and a little skin. After an incredibly successful year with multiple sold-out shows under our belt, The Underground Peepshow will be ending 2012 off with a brand new show dedicated to the end of the world. Pack your emergency survival kits and bunker down with us!

We are currently seeking burlesque performers who want to take on the challenge of making the apocalypse sexy. From Monday, October 8 to Friday, October 19, 2012, we will be accepting pitches for end-of-the-world burlesque acts. We are looking for acts based on characters from films, TV, books, comics, and video games that relate to the end of the world, or showcase a post-apocalyptic universe. This may include things like zombies, outbreaks, global natural disasters (ie. Comets, global warming, etc.), alien invasions, killer robots, etc. If it has to do with the threat of the human race being wiped out, we are all for it. If you have any ideas but are unsure about whether or not it fits within the criteria, please don’t hesitate to ask. Can’t wait to hear your ideas!

SHOW DETAILS:
Date: Friday, December 7, 2012
Doors Open: 9PM
Venue: Projection Booth Metro (677 Bloor St W, Toronto)

GUIDELINES:

You must be 19 years or older to pitch

You may pick any character from an apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic film, book, comic book, video game, TV show, etc.

Your pitch must be for an original act created specifically to debut at this show

As this is burlesque, full frontal nudity is not allowed. Pasties and panties are required

Men are welcome to pitch an act. We do love our boylesque!

Multiple pitches per person are welcome

Double acts are also welcome. However, we do highly suggest that you also submit a solo pitch since spaces are limited for double acts

All experience levels are welcome to submit a pitch! We do accept both seasoned and brand new performers!

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Please submit your pitch via email to peekaboo@undergroundpeepshow.com with the following information:

Your real name

Your stage name

Your contact information (email and phone number)

Your stage experience (burlesque or other)

Your chosen apocalyptic character

Please give a detailed description of your idea for your act, including music and costume

In 150 words or less, please tell us about yourself so we can get an idea of who you are

How did you hear about the Underground Peepshow?

If you are not chosen for this show, would you be interested in volunteering during the event?

Please attach a headshot of you in the email

If you have made the short list, we will be contacting you at the end of October. Please note that if you make the short list, you may be required to perform an act for us so that we can get a sense of our style and what you are about. If your act gets chosen for the show, you will be required to attend one dress rehearsal to be set within the week of the show, as well as a tech rehearsal on the day of the actual event. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks!
